The Finnish brand Makia was founded by the professional snowboarder Joni Malmi. Already in 2001, everything was planned when Joni, Jussi Oksanen and Ivar Fougstedt became partners and decided to create the Makia brand. Unfortunately, none of them were prepared for all that a start-up company entailed and after only a few months gave them up. A few years later, the company was taken up again and Joni Malmi and the former professional snowboarder Jesse Hyväri began to work together. Jesse was responsible for the design and they started the production of the clothes in a basement in the Punavuori area of Helsinki. Makia is still based in Helsinki but has of course moved from the small basement where it all started. Joni and Jesse's idea was to create skate clothes that had a slightly more stylish look than the usual skate clothes. Makia's clothes would be a better version of old classics with a focus on quality and simple as well as trendy design.

The purpose of Makia is to create collections that will give customers an easy way to both look handsome but also feel comfortable. Whether you are a skateboarder, businessman or pensioner, you can wear clothes from Makia! With a mix of decadent, creative and crazy pimples, Makia has recently become a well-known brand around the world. Today, the clothes are sold in Sweden, Norway, Spain, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. The company is now trying to expand even more, and has England as its goal for the coming years.

In Makia's range you will find timeless, stylish and simple clothes; everything from thinner winter jackets, t-shirts with cool prints and nice details to trousers, shorts and accessories. Makia also has a women's and children's collection. To achieve the best skate and snowboarding spirit, a bunch of professional snowboarders such as Peter Line, John Cardiel and Jeff Brushie have been brought into the Makia family.
